Hel |
|
Hel is a mysterious former Empress of Hell. At some point in the past, she was betayed by Spawn, lost her throne, and was in some way rescued by the Violator.
To repay her debt to the Violator, Hel agreed to aid the demon in his plan to gain control of the Jim Downing Spawn. As part of his plan, Violator had hidden a portion of Malebolgia's power within the body of Sam Burke. As such, he instructed Hel to take the body of a human nurse and make sure Burke remained unconscious.
When Detective Rowand discovered Hel perched atop Burke, she was forced to flee to the rooftop and commit suicide. Later in the morgue, the Violator awakened Hel and scolded her for her failure - but also promised to return with a new body for her.
A mere 15 minutes after Marc Rosen's girlfriend Susan Mathews committed suicide, Violator awakened Hel once again to inhabit Susan's corpse. Their plan required Hel to assume the life of Susan so that no one would know she had ever died. By doing this, Hel could remain close to Downing and slowly siphon his powers.
Hel remained by Marc for years, until ultimately she was killed by Al Simmons after he revealed to Marc who she really was. |

Helen Williams |
|
Alias: Margaret Helen Williams
Detective Twitch Williams' beautiful and loving wife. Born Margaret Helen Williams, she has always gone by the name Helen except to her Grandmother (and occasionally Twitch).
Helen stood by Twitch through the ups and downs of his career, often forced to visit her husband in the hospital. Because of the time consuming nature of Twitch's job, Helen was left alone at home with their 6 children more often than not.
She was not happy with his decision to start a private detective agency with Sam, and even less happy that he had been fired from the force. The difficulties and stresses of Twitch being away so often led to many problems in their marriage, most severely around the time that their eldest son Max ran away from home. They seperated for a time, but their marriage endured as they still loved one another very much.
When Armageddon came, Helen and Twitch died together with their kids at home, only to be recreated anew in the White Light. |

Henry Richard Simmons |
|
An officer in the 10th Cavalry of the US army, and one of the so-called 'Buffalo Soldiers'. Simmons was born Francis Charles Parker, the son of cotton slaves. He was proud of what he became and wore his army uniform with pride.
His life changed forever, however, when one of his fellow cavalry men was gunned down in cold blood in the town of San Angelo, Texas. He and his fellow men reacted to the murder by issuing a declaration of justice to the patrons of the town saloon - but their civilized deed was met with more violence and a gunfight ensued. When the dust had settled, those that remained of the 10th cavalry were outlaws - presumed guilty because of the color of their skin.
Parker fled towards Colorado Springs, home of his beloved Alma. Along the way, Parker was caught in a snow storm and took shelter in the small town of Bane. There his bad luck continued, as he happened upon a murder scene and was recognized by the marshal. He was arrested and thrown in jail, where he met the man known as Ol' Job.
He and Ol'Job (who's family was murdered) were visited by Mammon - a fallen angel in the employ of Malebolgia who was secretly trying to create the ultimate hellspawn. Mammon was unsure of which of the two men should be the next hellspawn at first, but later settled on Ol' Job. He had other plans for Parker.
When the hellspawn Ol' Job was unleashed on the town of Bane, no one was left standing except he and Parker. Mammon told Job to spare Parker's life, and later revealed to Parker that his seed would one day become the ultimate hellspawn that he had been searching for.
Parker changed his name to Henry Richard Simmons and married his love Alma. Together they raised a family, but he did not forget Mammon's prophecy. He wrote it all down in a journal to be passed through the generations so that Mammon's plan would not come to fruition. |

Hiroshi Kitamura |
|
In life, Hiroshi's granddaughter Kumiko was a rebellious teenager who disobeyed her parents and the grandfather that lived with them. She was addicted to drugs and sold her body to pay for them. Her grandfather learned of this and followed her. One night he attempted to defend her honor by attacking her dealers with a sword, but they were both killed.
After his death, Hiroshi walked in darkness for many years following his granddaughter. He could not remember his life, only that he had sworn to protect his family. Ahead of him, his granddaughter Kumiko remained the same distance away from him no matter how fast he traveled, and could not hear or see him. One day a light appeared in the darkness, and they were released.
The two lost souls had been trapped within Spawn since his creation, but were released by the boy Christopher Welland. Their deaths happened to occur during the same hour as Al Simmons' murder, and from that moment on, their souls became linked. Spawn had them released to help him fight back the flow of Armageddon, specifically, to quell a zombie uprising in Tennessee.
Kumiko charged ahead, believing she was in some sort of game, and her dutiful grandfather followed. Amidst the battle, a sudden realization came to the Kitamuras - this was not a game, and much like the zombies, they were dead. Hiroshi and Kumiko made amends with each other and came to terms with what they had become.
They remained good allies with Spawn until he was slain by Judas. After Spawn's death, the 6000 souls within him were released to an unknown future (which Mother assured Spawn would be only their beginning).
Hiroshi and Kumiko were recalled one last time to Spawn's aid when he fought with his daughter Morana. The Kitamuras were killed in battle, but they were successful in that they distracted Morana long enough for her to be defeated. |
