Kali is the Hindu goddess of destruction and rebirth, as everything she kills is also reborn. According to Shanti Surendra, Kali is a Hindu myth meant to be taken, not as literal truth, but as an allegory "representing the eternal battle between the creative and destructive sides of our nature."

Kali was created by the Gods out of pure light in order to battle the demonic army of Mahishasura. Kali triumphed, but rejoiced in the killing. She continued attacking their corpses until she realized one of the dead was her husband Shiva - at which point she felt shame and ceased her rampage.

At the start of Armageddon, a personification of her appeared in India and began slaughtering people. When Spawn arrived, she was excited to kill him in order to release the souls within him. Amal Surendra intervened, however, by making an offering to Kali.

He offered her his (and Shanti's) unborn child in exchange for Spawn's life. As a mother, Kali understood their sacrifice and spared Spawn. After the confrontation, Kali was revealed to be Mother in disguise.

The wife of a simple farmer near the town of Turnbold. When the socialist King of Turnbold was killed by the villainous Brakert, the town became a hive for thieves and its residents were enslaved or killed.

Kari was one of those who was enslaved. She was forced to become a prostitute in the local tavern while her husband toiled in the fields to feed Brakert's city. Kari was eventually freed by Covenant and she returned to her beloved husband Peter.

Speaking on behalf of the Emerald Parliament, the Keeper greeted Spawn upon his arrival in Greenworld. He showed Spawn the views of Greenworld and warned that he must stop Armageddon for Earth's sake.

If Spawn were to fail, the Keeper threatened that Greenworld would destroy mankind - thus eliminating Heaven and Hell's trophies (human souls) and the need for the great war to take place on Earth.

Much later, it was revealed that the Keeper was another alias of Mother and she was merely trying to guide Spawn's path.
